Kayaking is the use of a kayak for moving over water. Kayaking is a type of paddling. It is distinguished from other types of paddling by the sitting position of the paddler and the number of blades on the paddle. A kayak is a low-to-the-water boat in which the paddler sits facing forward, legs in front, using a double-bladed paddle to move through the water. Kayaks have closed decks, allowing the paddler for more control. Sit-on-top and inflatable kayaks are growing in popularity for non-white water activities, like fishing. Kayaks can be built for a single paddler or as a tandem for two or three paddlers.
